A Grand Opening At A Brand New Brainerd Bakery

The Knotty Pine Bakery will celebrate their grand opening this Saturday (November 9th) from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm in downtown Brainerd.

Marie Kirsch, originally from Two Harbors, was the winner of the $50,000 Destination Downtown Business Challenge last November and her idea for what their website describes as “a scratch made, small batch bake shop” has come full circle and is open for business.

Marie credits her Grandma Joy as an inspirational influence both in the kitchen and in life.  The Knotty Pine Bakery theme is “Handmade From The Heart”. That sounds very much like a grandmother inspired sentiment to me.

The Knotty Pine’s Grand day will include everything from live music to cookie decorating and, of course, you will enjoy the memory inducing olfactory pleasure of walking into an atmosphere where that fresh baked and sweet smell just seems to hang in the air.  Oooooh that smell.  Can’t you smell that smell?

There was a time when it seemed that every little town included a main street bakery.  I still remember walking into the bakery in my hometown of Walker and,  because mom was a soft touch, walking out with a sack full of “elephant ears”.

Stop on down this Saturday and get to know Marie and her staff.  It should prove to be a sweet beginning to many tasty days to come.

Hey, it’s just about Christmas cookie time.
