The city of Brainerd is preparing for a large construction project that will close down a significant stretch of roadway starting Monday, April 26th (2021).
The intersection behind Walgreens and in front of the Essentia Health Sports Center – Northwest Fourth and Jackson Streets – in Brainerd will be closed to traffic starting Monday for construction. Crews will be working to construct a roundabout at that intersection.
The closure will block all access to and from Northtown, Riverside Drive and Beaver Dam Road and is expected to be closed through the second week in June (2021). The city says the contractor will maintain a passable route for emergency vehicles only. During that time, commuters will need to use other routes. If you live in our around the area, your commute will probably be at least 5 to 10 minutes longer, starting Monday.
