If you are looking to watch fireworks this year, there are still some towns that will fire them off. However, they are not wanting people to gather in large groups. Many of the fireworks will be shot off from islands or over lakes, meaning there are numerous ways to observe the fireworks from boat or land, but not where everyone else will be gathered. Here’s what I could find…
Here we go:
- Alexandria: At 10:00 on Saturday, July 4th, fireworks will be shot off over Lake Darling. Please watch from the lake or in your vehicle at the Arrowwood Stables parking lot at Arrowwood Resort.
- Bemidji: At dusk on Saturday, July 4th, fireworks will be shot off over Lake Bemidji. Spectators are encouraged to social distance by watching the show at various locations around the lake.
- Brainerd: At 10:15 on Saturday, July 4th, fireworks will be shot off near the previous location, however there will be no viewing allowed at Brainerd High School or the field not only because of COVID-19, but because the area is an active construction site. If you’ve been able to see them from outside of that area in the past, you will be able to see them again. NO GATHERING, NO PARADE. Just fireworks from afar, please.
- Crosslake: at 10:00 on Saturday, July 4th, fireworks will be shot off, as usual, over Sand Island. Please watch from a boat or on land practicing social distancing.
- Garrison: Fireworks will take place over Garrison Bay on Mille Lacs lake Saturday July 4th
- Bay Lake: fireworks will be shot off over Bay Lake at dusk on Saturday, July 4th NOTE: Ruttgers will not allow the public onto its grounds to watch the show. Must watch from a remote location or by boat.
- Longville: at dusk on Saturday, July 4th, over Girl Lake. No gatherings planned – watch by boat or by land practicing social distancing.
- Nisswa: NO fireworks will be shot off from Grand View Lodge this year, however, on Saturday, July 4th, fireworks will be shot off over Gull Lake courtesy of Cragun’s Resort and Madden’s Resort. No gatherings on the ground for the public. Watch by boat or on land practicing social distancing.
- Pequot Lakes: at 10:10 of Friday, July 3rd, fireworks will be shot off from the practice field at the high school. Spectators can watch from their cars.
- Perham: at 10:00 on Saturday, July 4th, fireworks will be shot off at East Otter Tail County Fairgrounds.
- Walker: at dusk on Saturday, July 4th, fireworks will be shot off from the park area in Walker.
No matter how you spend your 4th of July weekend, please enjoy, be safe, help keep others safe, be smart and have fun! Happy Independence Day, America!
