I love this, I love this, I LOVE THIS SO MUCH that it was in my newscast this morning!
So, the Central Lakes College Horticulture Club, with the help of totally donated flowers from Copper Creek Garden Center in Nisswa, hit the streets yesterday to “Petal It Forward” as they gave away 600 flower bouquets to random people throughout Brainerd, Baxter and Nisswa. After receiving their flowers, recipients were then asked to spread the happiness by gifting a SECOND flower bouquet they were given to someone else as a fun random act of kindness. The flowers were handed to busy commuters to help brighten their week as part of the “Petal It Forward” program. Want a good smile?
A press release stated this was all done in partnership with the Society of American Florists (SAF), of which Central Lakes College is a member. CLC and Copper Creek Garden Center joined dozens of florists across the country in the endeavor. This random-acts-of-kindness effort is in response to the release of data by SAF showing the positive emotional benefits of flowers.
Organizers say the impact of giving and receiving flowers is powerful and memorable and can turn any ordinary day into an extraordinary one.
I may just have to go buy myself some flowers now! Love it!
