Halloween Happenings In The Brainerd Lakes Area

If you are looking for some fun this Halloween season, here is a list of a few ideas – from no-scare to low-scare… from high-scare to INSANE-scare… Check out these events as you make your Spooktacular plans!

2023 HALLOWEEN / HAUNTED
EVENTS IN THE B.L.A

The Northland Arboretum in Brainerd/Baxter will host its 21st Annual Haunted Trail fundraiser Thurs. Oct. 19-Sat. Oct. 21 from 7:00-9:00 each night.  Walk the spooky, scary trails of the Arb – choosing a low, high or insane scare options!  The trail ends with games, treats and entertainment.  Tickets are $20 for general admission and $30 for V.I.P.  Purchase tickets in advance at NorthlandArb.org/events.  Concessions will be for sale, too – cash only.

 

The Haunted Hollow at Holst Acres in Staples will be open for one more weekend this season…the Haunted Hollow Haunted Woods will welcome those who dare to visit from 7:00-10:00 on Fri. & Sat. Paul Bunyan Land on State Hwy 18 east of Brainerd invites you to its Haunted Hidden Hollows for the last two Fridays and Saturdays in October (20&2127&28)  Gates open each night at 7:00 and the last tickets are sold at 10:00.  Considered central Minnesota’s largest haunted attraction, the path, maze, and house are redesigned every year and it promises to “scare the YELL” out of you!  The cost runs from $14 to $28, depending on how daring you are!  Concessions will be available for sale (hot chocolate, apple cider, hot dogs, nachos, pop, cotton candy and more).  For more info, visit PaulBunyanLand.com.

 

Pine Grove Zoo in Little Falls will host its annual BooFest on Sat. Oct. 21st from 2:00-5:00 and the public is encouraged to be part of the fun!  Arrive in costume and enjoy games, activities and fun for all ages including a 64-foot Obstacle Course, 18-foot inflatable slide, inflatable Sport Throw with Radar, PLUS you can visit with the animals!  Plus enjoy the Howling Haunted House!  Tickets are just $7 (free for those 1 and under)… avoid the line and get your tickets in advance at PineGroveZoo.com.

 

Light Up The Dam presents Camp Spooktacular Fri.-Sun. Oct. 27-29 at the Crosslake Recreation Area on Co. Rd. 66 in Crosslake.  For $100, guests can rent a campsite, and get one bundle of firewood.  Then, decorate your site and prepare yourself for trick-or-treaters on Sat. Kids are invited to put their Halloween costumes on and do some Trick or Treating in Pequot Lakes on Sat. Oct. 28th.  From 10:00-12:00, kids can trick or treat from trunk to trunk in the parking lot of Trailside Center on Rasmussen Road in Pequot Lakes.  For information and directions, visit Facebook and search Trunk or Treat Trailside Center.

 

A Spooktacular Halloween Party will be held at the Crosslake Community Center on Sat. Oct. 28th from 12:00-2:00 and is geared toward children ages toddler to 9 years.  There will be activities, games, treats and fun for all.  Costumes are encouraged.  All ghosts and goblins must be accompanied by an adult

 


The Woods (restaurant) north of Brainerd on Co. Rd. 3 will host a FREE Trunk or Treat event on Sat. Oct. 28 from 12:00-2:00.  This free, safe and fun event for kids will net them some candy and they can take the “Haunted Bus Tour” and enjoy some spooky surprises!  It all takes place in the Gather On 3 Event Center parking lot.  Come in costume… bring your pet in costume… free popcorn will be available, too!  For more info, visit Facebook and search The Woods.


Trinity Lutheran Church
in Brainerd invites the public to its annual Trunk or Treat event on Sat. Oct. 28th from 3:00-5:00. Kids, put on your costume come trick-or-treating from trunk to trunk in the parking lot of the church at 1420 S. 6th Street in Brainerd.  All are welcome!


The
Northland Arboretum in Brainerd/Baxter will host a Low-Scare Trail and Trunk or Treat event on Sat. Oct. 28th from 4:00-6:00 at the Arb.  Tickets are $5 and available online in advance at NorthlandArb.org.  This is an outdoor event.


The public is invited to the
Nisswa Fire Department’s 25th Annual Haunted Barn & Hayride on Sat. Oct. 28th in Nisswa.  Take a stroll through the barn from 5:00-7:00 for the “not-so-scary” haunting (no live spooks)… then from 7:00-9:00, hold on for some serious scares!  There will also be bonfires with s’mores, games and other concessions. Get ready for a spooktacular good time at the Halloween Bash at the Northern Pacific Center in Brainerd on Sun. Oct. 29th from 11:00-4:00 for a day filled with thrilling adventures and family fun.  Hay rides, trick-or-treating, blazing bonfires, bouncy houses, the traveling art pub, petting zoo, outdoor market, food trucks and face painting!  The cost is only $5 – kids 3 and under get in free!  Learn more on Facebook by searching Halloween Bash Northern Pacific Center.

 

Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa invites the public to its annual Trunk or Treat event on Sun. Oct. 29th from 3:00-4:30 in parking lot of the church.  Stop by in costume and work your way from trunk to trunk gathering goodies from the volunteers!  All are welcome – both sweet treats and non-candy treats will be available.

 

Join the Brainerd Police Department and the Brainerd Fire Department for their annual Halloween Safety Event on Halloween Night, Tues. Oct. 31st from 3:30-6:00.  You can trick-or-treat with Safety Pup through multiple treat stations in the garage on the north end of the police department on East River Road…then cross the street and trick-or-treat at the Brainerd Fire Hall on Laurel Street.  All kids are welcome to this free event.  For info, visit Facebook and search Brainerd Police Department.

 

Join the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office for its Trunk or Treat event on Tues. Oct. 31st from 3:30-6:30 in Brainerd at the corner of Laurel and S. 4th Street in the county’s public parking lot.  Kids can trick or treat while enjoying displays from the county’s recreational division, tactical team, mounted patrol, K9 team, Bomb Team, Drone Team and Squads!  The event is free and open to the public!  Come in Costume and watch for the flashing lights!!!!!

 

The 4th Annual Trick or Treat event at the Franklin Arts Center on Kingwood Street in Brainerd will take place on Tues. Oct. 31st from 4:30-6:30 and all ages are welcome!  On the first floor, enjoy a more family-friendly atmosphere, on the 2nd floor, you’ll find the Haunted Hallway along with Virtual Reality.  Please use the south entrance to come into the building.  The event is handicap accessible. 

 

Crosslake Lutheran Church will host another Trunk or Treat in their church parking lot on Tues. Oct. 31st from 5:00-7:00.  There will also be a costume contest, carved pumpkin contest and guessing games!  All events will take place outdoors, so dress for the weather!

 

Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd will host a Trunk or Treat event in their parking lot on Tues. Oct. 31st starting at 5:30.  Kids are encouraged to dress up and come get candy while supplies last (or until 7:00, whichever comes first!). All are welcome!
