I Tried The New Mexican Jalapeño Peanut M&M’s And Survived To Tell The Tale

Jalapeno Peanut M&Ms

I left for work at 4:30 this morning… leaving the comfort of beautiful Breezy Point…never thinking that within the next 15 minutes, my life would change forever.

I pulled into a Nisswa gas station (as my gas light was glaring at me), decided NOT to “pay at the pump” and actually GO INSIDE to pay this time.  I grabbed a bottle of water, some cheese sticks and headed for the counter to pay for my snacks and gas… and THERE THEY WERE.   Four dark green “Share Size” bags of M&Ms just sitting there WAITING for someone to see them and want to take them home.  But… dark green bags?  Say WHAT?!  What in the world were these???  I KNOW my M&Ms and THESE were new!

I picked up a bag and read the top… “Mexican Jalapeño Peanut M&Ms!!!!”  I was at a loss for words (hard to believe, I know).  I don’t eat a lot of sugary treats anymore, but this was going to be a new day.  I asked the gal at the counter to add them to my bill.  Another employee spoke up from behind an aisle of chips and said, “they taste a little tangy, chocolaty and spicy all at the same time.”  SOLD!

I got into my fully gassed vehicle and had all I could do from not busting into this little bag of yum.  I had 20 minutes left in my commute…I wanted to try them so badly…but I waited to do it live on-air this morning.  Even waiting until 7:50 a.m. to try them about killed me.  But I did it.  And when I did… I was in heaven!  I love spice.  I love jalapenos.  I love peanut M&Ms…and they all came together in this little bag of love!  Chocolaty, YES.  Spicy, YES.  Tangy, not so much.  But I loved them!

I am guessing the gas station in Nisswa is now out of them, but I heard you can get them at a big box store in Baxter, so I think I’ll be stopping there on my way home today.   The bag also says there are a few others to try ( English Toffee … and Thai Coconut), so MAYBE I will search them out, but my heart belongs to the Mexican Jalapeno Peanut M&Ms.  Now and forever.  SO, I hope they keep making them… I really, really hope they keep making them.  Give them a try!  Ole’!
