Every year, the Deerwood Deer is dressed up in different apparel to go with the changes in season. You will see the Deer wearing Blaze Orange during hunting season, a red nose and santa hat during Christmas, and even now the Deer is doing its part to stop the virus spread and wearing a face mask. But the Deer does not have a name, and that is about to change.
During the weeks of August 3rd through August 15th, anyone can email their suggested names for our “Dear” to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Each emailed submission must contain your suggested name for the Deer, your name and your telephone number. One submission per person, no early or late entries accepted. For multiple same names entered, the first one received will be the one entered into the contest. The week of August 18th, Deerwood Civic & Commerce will narrow the names down to 5 (best or 5 most suggested??) and Deerwood City Council will vote on the final name no later than August 20th. The winning name and winner will be announced at the “Drive in only” live concert, and over the air on Cool 103.5 at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Deerwood on 8/22. This event will be heavily promoted by Hubbard Radio, as well as by the Cuyuna Chamber. Stay tuned for more details.
