Barn Quilts have become an increasingly popular method of dressing up homes throughout the country.
They first started showing on barns and outbuildings in states like Ohio and Kentucky. Online examples abound.
Sandra Ehrich, a Baxter resident, has become a devotee of this colorful and geometric art form. I’m particularly proud of her creative endeavors because Sandy is the girl that makes my heart pound. Too personal? Oh Well. I seem to getting more sentimental….as time goes by.
Sandy has developed a seasonal theme with her barn quilts. She has produced bright and colorful quilts for summer. She’s currently working on some autumnal color schemes and she has some Halloween ideas in mind. She even created some red white and blue designs for the 4th of July. I can’t wait to see what she might come up with for Christmas.
Pictured above is a quilt (painted on a 2 ft by 2 ft board) which we displayed in a frame stand which used to serve as our mailbox stand across the road.
I’ll occasionally follow up with some more examples of Sandy’s quilts…..as time goes by.
