We Left Our Hopes In San Francisco

vikings down

There were no surprises on Saturday afternoon in San Francisco.

We decided to gather with a crowd to watch the Vikes do battle with the favored 49ers.  It was an enthusiastic gathering as the game got underway.  By the middle of the third quarter the excited buzz had given way to a murmur of conversation.

We overheard comments such as these.

They still need to do something about this offensive line.”

This defense just isn’t what it was a couple of years ago.”

The more devout of the Viking faithful will devote at least some of their off-season time mulling over the draft this April. They’ll discuss the advisability of trades and free agent acquisitions. (Free agents will be tough to come by because the Vikings have very little wiggle room under the salary cap.)

The rest of us will simply move on to the next thing.

Hey, the Twins will show up in Fort Myers in just about a month.
